Learn Spanish and equally importantly practice your Spanish with real Spanish speakers at Cafe Florin for free!
We have native Spanish speakers, Canarians who want to help you to speak Spanish.
It's an exchange ( intercambio in Spanish) with Spanish speakers who want to practice their English with you and they in turn help you practice your Spanish with them.
Get togethers are every second Sunday ( more frequently soon ) for 2 or 3 hours starting at 5pm.
We are very near the Yumbo, if you can pop across the road from the Yumbo entrance to Cafe Florin you can make a real difference to your ability to speak and understand Spanish.
It's Fun!
It's not like formal learning, you are interacting face to face helping someone who needs your help too.
Learn from your mistakes
One of the most interesting and memorable things about practicing and leaning Spanish this way is learning from your mistakes.
You may have been saying something wrong for months, you too may have been misunderstanding what someone has been saying to you.
It's always nice to clear these things up and often funny or embarrassing, either way you will have learned something.
We can now seat over 50 people on the terrace so there's enough room for you and a friend
Florin serves drinks to your table, chat in relaxed environment and keep that promise you made to yourself to learn a little more Spanish
How it works at Cafe Florin
Firstly we have all ages and all professions
Everybody there either wants to practice their Spanish or practice their English*.
There is always a qualified teachers on hand, including myself John Mulkearns and various native English and Spanish tutors always willing to help
In practice some tables tend to end up practicing Spanish for an hour or so, some practice English, we encourage the groups to mix and people to naturally move and join the table or group that best suits them.
Perhaps the most important thing; the reason why intercambio works so well at Cafe florin is that people try to help each other and there is always friendly informal atmosphere
We always make a special effort to welcome new faces and keep things as simple and stress free for you as possible so that you can learn in a relaxed way, have a lttle fun and make friends too.
The History of Intercambio de Idiomas ( Language Exchange )
