1) The cancellation conditions of Alpha rooms are quite different, relatively severe when compaired to booking.com
With Booking.com geneally there is no fee for cancellations for most places.
However some ( about 5%) do charge one nights fee if you only cancel one or two nights before your checkin date and some do change from no cacellation fee to a small cancellation fee in the busiest periods like Christmas and New Year, so it always pays to check just as you book
